The Collector
The Collector is my expression of the almost inhospitable environment that this Aquamarine are found. Years ago, I acquired the main Aquamarine from a coworker, of the miner. Mining in Colorado for Aquamarine has a almost inhospitable landscape. My vision for this piece is to express a organic life form that scowers the harsh landscape. Years later, I acquired the second large Aquamarine, from the same pocket. The Collector was born, as one Aqua. can be in front of the main crystal. In my eyes it gives a odd sence of movement. In all rights, these Aquamarines are a great example of how hash the environment is. Other places in the world have finer crystals, but this are very fine examples for Colorado. The Main Body is spun from Red Mallee (Austrailian Burlwood). It is hollowed out threw the small opening in the top. The leg forms are of African Blackwood with a Brown Mallee burl slice growing off the top. The silver wire is inspired by natural wire silver and marries the Aquamarine to the body with a hand like swoop.
